ACHIEVE GREATNESS WITH YEMI AND BIMBO DAVIDS
Day 20 November 2019
You are crafted for a purpose
Scripture Reference: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I set you apart; and I appointed you as a prophet to the nations” Jeremiah 1: 5 NIV.
You are not a biological mistake or an accident. God has a purpose for you, even before you were formed in the womb. You are not just a product of a man’s or woman’s making; God has a hand in your existence.
God knows you as a person and He knows all about you – your experiences, failures, successes, fears, etc. It doesn’t matter if your parents did not plan for you or maybe you were a product of a terrible experience – rape, abuse or the like. The fact that you exist means that God wanted you to exist, for a reason.
We have examples of children born in negative circumstances but who ended up in honour; people like Jabez in 1 Chronicles 4: 9, 10.
His mother called him Jabez because he was born in sorrow; maybe her husband had abandoned her and the baby, or maybe she had terrible childbirth. Whatever the reason, it was obviously impactful enough for her to have named her child ‘sorrow’. She definitely didn’t see anything great or worthy about him, but Jabez had an encounter with the God of reversals and he ended up more honourable than his siblings. I pray that this will be your experience in Jesus’ name. You may be labelled ‘the black sheep’ in the family, and no one sees anything good about you, but God has a greater plan for you and you don’t have to end up in shame or reproach, and it is my prayer that you will end up a better and more honourable version of yourself.
Daily digest: Whether it’s a rediscovery or kind of evolution, the spiritual life requires the time to discern and surrender when it comes to living our purpose.
Prayer: Lord, I surrender my life to you. I want to do something, to make something happen, all on my own strength, but I know without you I can do nothing. I know my life is not my own, it is yours to work through me. Lord, I am grateful for this life you’ve given me. You’ve blessed me with different gifts and talents. Help me understand how to cultivate those things to bring glory to your great name. Amen.
