Day 19 February 2020
The Real Reason
Scripture reference:
All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirits. -Proverbs 16:2 NKJV
As Christians, or even people generally, there should be a distinction in the way we do things and the way the world does it. This includes the way we enter into and manage our relationships with other people. The need to manage our relationships effectively comes up many times in the Bible; from the Old Testament to the New.
However, the foundation of every relationship must be adequately defined before the relationship gets deeper than the acquaintance level. To define the foundation, our motives should be checked. The Lord checks the intents of our hearts and we cannot hide from him.
For those of us who are seeking to get into a relationship with a significant other, let’s remember to check our hearts and ask the question “Why do I want this?” or “Why am I getting into this?” The main purpose of anything we do must be to glorify the God we serve.
What’s the real reason you want this relationship?

Prayer: Lord, purify my intentions and check my motives. Help me to want only what you want and lead my life in such a way that you will always receive the glory.
