ACHIEVE GREATNESS WITH YEMI AND BIMBO DAVIDS
Day 6 February 2020
The need to feel loved – Part 1
Scripture Reference: “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.” – John 15:9-10
Psychologists have concluded that the need to feel loved is a primary human emotional need. When a child really feels loved, he will develop normally. On the contrary, when the love tank is empty, the child will misbehave. Material things are no replacement for emotional love. In every relationship we have; employer-employee, parents-children, pastor-congregation, husband-wife and even among friends, we must know that each person has a love tank or a love account.
As we interact, we either make deposits in or withdrawals from or to our individual love accounts. Crisis and reactions will occur when there are more withdrawals than deposits. In other words, pleasurable interactions will create deposits and painful interactions will create withdrawals.
Wisdom is knowing and taking steps to make more deposits than withdrawals. When your spouse’s love account is buoyant, they are deeply excited and fulfilled; as a result, the relationship will farewell. If the withdrawals are more than deposits, the crisis will naturally surface. This is the foundational reason for separation, divorce and many crises in relationships.
Daily digest: Selfishness is the plea of mankind.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for my heart is full of wisdom, truth, and love. You lead us to enjoy the beauty in creation, to engage each day with love in our hearts. You teach us to live lives brimming with your love and goodness.
