ACHIEVE GREATNESS WITH YEMI AND BIMBO DAVIDS
Day 3 February 2020
Teachability Is Essential
Scripture Reference: “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth”. – 2 Timothy 2:15
A great attitude that helps to foster great relationships is the possession of a teachable spirit. When we understand that we are not perfect and that perfection is a journey, not a destination, it helps us to view our lives as a need for teaching every once in a while. We are not all yet perfect and so that means there is room for change. However, excusing mistakes and refusal to learn from them and apologize is clear proof that you are unteachable. Believe me, it is a disaster to stay or live with an unteachable spouse.
Many times, the problem is not that we are wrong, but the willingness to accept that we are wrong and make a change. Most men never say “I’m sorry” to their spouse. They are never wrong. This is very dangerous and extremely harmful to the health of marriages because no one has the monopoly of knowledge of the ability to be perfect at all times. This means that we are bound to make mistakes and also that we must learn to apologize for it. When we think we are smarter than the other party and take them for granted, it’s proof of foolishness. At the root of an unteachable spirit is pride – overestimation of oneself. Blotted ego leading to the destruction of family and business. It takes a humble heart to truly learn the tips and guides that will be shared in this book. It takes a teachable spirit to learn. It takes learning to grow, and it takes growth to change, and it takes to change to experience fulfilment.
Daily digest: Maybe it won’t work out. But maybe seeing if it does will be the best adventure.
Prayer: Dear Lord, grant me wisdom that I may know how to deal with this unlikely situation so I can build a house in Your glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray, O Lord. Amen.
