ACHIEVE GREATNESS WITH YEMI AND BIMBO DAVIDS –
Day 23 February 2020
Soft
Scripture reference: “A soft answer turns away wrath, but harsh word stirs up anger” – Proverbs: 15:1 NKJV
As young children, we learn that some words are called “magic words”. Wikipedia describes “magic” as the “power of influencing events…” In essence, “please”, “sorry” and “thank you” have the power to influence events around us. In this context, the events are controlled by people we are in relationships with, no matter the kind and these words laced with the proper tones and attitudes have the power to influence events.
Soft words are not weak words, they are strong words said with the intent to construct or make better and not destroy. “I’m sorry” from a true heart will resolve more conflict that the therapist’s chair.
What a dead or dying relationship usually needs is not a fire brigade approach or therapy, it is the parties knowing and agreeing to speak soft words to one another at any point in time.
Honour and respect, although not as popular as the phenomenon of love and love languages, are major determinants in the success of relationships.
Daily digest: Proverbs 15:4, Proverbs 25:15.
Prayer: Father, I ask for mercy as regards past cases where I have hurt anyone as a result of careless words. Please order my words and my mouth to only edify and not put down people’s souls. Let me be able to influence people positively with the mouth that you have given me.
