ACHIEVE GREATNESS WITH YEMI AND BIMBO DAVIDS
Day 8 December 2019
Learn to Be Thankful!
Scripture Reference: “On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices, saying, ‘Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.’ When he saw them he said to them, ‘Go and show yourselves to the priests.’ And as they went they were cleansed. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus’ feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered, ‘Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?’ And he said to him, ‘Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well.’ – Luke 17:11-18
Dear reader, maybe you should write a special appreciation letter or several letters to those that have been instrumental to your progress so far. We are often used to query letters. Let’s enjoy the benefit of appreciation letter. Craft and decorate the letter. If you could add a gift – depending on your capacity, send it to your pastor, send it to your husband, send it to your wife, make it special – make it grand. It can be the healing you need. Enough of this complaining and nagging. Learn to be thankful.
In the scripture above, you can see how these 10 lepers cried to Jesus to heal them, but something different happened when they got the healing: only one of them returned to give thanks. This account is in Luke 17:11-19. And Jesus answered: “Where are the nine?” Ten lepers were cleansed and only one remembered to return to give thanks. The individual that returned was made whole. His life was perfected, as it were.
Daily digest: Gratefulness is a wonderful feeling, but its real power is released through expression.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your incredible sacrifice so that we might have freedom and life. Forgive us for when we don’t thank you enough, for who you are, for all that you do, for all that you’ve given. Help us to set our eyes and our hearts on you afresh. Renew our spirits, fill us with your peace and joy. We love you and we need you, this day and every day. We give you praise and thanks, for You alone are worthy!
In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
