ACHIEVE GREATNESS WITH YEMI AND BIMBO DAVIDS
Day 25 November 2019
Don’t give up on your dreams
Scripture Reference: As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. – 1 Peter 4:10
Discovering and excelling in your gift is not a lazy man’s job; it requires discipline, diligence, focus and commitment. You may face persecution and alienation from your closest friends & family. You may have to overcome other people’s opinion of you and the fear of failure, but if you commit to it wholeheartedly, you will succeed.
Joseph was a young man who faced such obstacles. He was the second youngest of his brothers in his family, but was well-loved by his father – in fact he was treated specially from others and must have been experiencing hatred and animosity from his older brothers. To make matters ‘worse’, God gave him a dream that in summary meant he would be greater and more honourable than his brothers, and they would literally bow to him. Joseph faced more criticism even from his father and he narrowly escaped being killed by his brothers. However, in spite of all these, he held on to his dream and eventually, everything he saw in his dream came to reality. Recently while studying the life of Joseph, I realized that the first time he shared the dream with his brothers and he experienced envy from them, God didn’t stop giving him the dreams. He dreamed a second time and this time the dream was bigger because he saw the sun and the moon bow down to him. This means that there are certain dreams and desires that will be inspired by God which will trigger animosity and envy from close friends and family, but God won’t stop giving you the desires just because He doesn’t want you to face challenges, but rather in the midst of the challenges, He wants you to trust Him and depend on Him to bring those dreams to reality.
Daily digest: Remember, you are not responsible for the gifts God didn’t give you.
Prayer: O Lord, anytime I want to make a mistake or quit on my dreams, direct me to the right path in Jesus’ name.
