“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.” – Prov4:20-22 (KJV)
Often times, we find that a person may be in a room and their mobile phone would be in another room, in the same house and suddenly, they can hear their phone ring. All the people present in the same room with him might not hear it, but the owner of the phone would hear it. The reason the owner can hear it and no other person can is simply FAMILIARITY. In constantly attending to God’s word, we become familiar with the way God speaks, thinks and acts. This familiarity helps us to recognize God’s voice in things and aids our prompt responses to His direction and guidance.
One of the first remarks people give in response to them not following God’s direction and plan for their lives is that they don’t recognize God’s voice. It is because they are unfamiliar with the way he speaks and they can’t recognize it. As we consistently study God’s word, spend time fellowshipping with Him, giving attention to the things of God, we become familiar with God’s voice, patterns, and ways. We get better at recognizing and in turn responding to divine direction. As you read the devotional, be sure to open the scriptures as well. Give attention to His word, get familiar today!
Daily digest: “Listen to what God’s words say rather than the words of people”.
