Topic: I’m Complete
“For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power” – Colossians 2:9-10
Dear singles, Do you remember that time you heard the speech of a beautiful husband showering his wife with accolades laced with statements like these; “She completes me” or the most common one, “My spouse is my better half”? You probably wanted something like that because you liked what you heard.
Surely, you’re beginning to look at the statements cited with such curt side eye because it does not seem like there is anything wrong with the statements. But there is.
The society has romanticized love so much that love is made to seem like a replacement for God. The truth is the only better half that any man or woman can have is the Jesus he or she fully expresses or explores. The Bible says that the only person that completes me or I’m completely in is Jesus. No man or woman can ever complete you.
The earlier we understand this truth, the easier it becomes to wean our spouses or those we are dating off the high, stifling expectations we have of them. No mortal can ever fill our relationship vacuum. Only God can.
You are complete in Jesus! The next time you feel any kind of gap in your spirit, do not fill that gap with another relationship or try to nag your spouse or partner into filling that gap, try asking Jesus to fill it and watch Him woo you again!
Prayer:
Jesus, I’m sorry for trying to replace You with relationships or people. I look to you to find the completion that has been needed in my soul for a while. Fill me, Jesus, till I’m fully complete in you
Happy Valentine’s Day
