“By faith, we understand that the universe was created by the word of God so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible”
– Hebrew 11:3 (ESV).
God created us in His image and likeness, which doesn’t necessarily mean we have a physical resemblance to him. It would be highly improbable considering there are over 7 billion variations to that resemblance. However, because God is a spirit (John4:24), it implies that we bear similarities with God. God is a Spirit; therefore, man is a spirit, has a soul and lives in a body. God hears, we hear. God speaks, we speak.
This knowledge apart from it being apparent can also be very instructive, in the sense that we can learn God’s pattern of getting things done and take a cue from it. In the beginning, things were not so great, the Bible tells us the earth was empty and without form (Genesis 1). God didn’t sit around complaining about the present situation, nor did he go around looking for a friend to share his problems with over drinks. He did what God-beings do, HE CREATED. He created what he desired with words, scriptures say God continually said what He wanted to see till finally ‘He saw’ what he wanted to see.
Just like God, we are creative beings, we are a sum of what we have said or haven’t said in the past. Things we haven’t said, we haven’t seen, things we have said, we have seen. Our tomorrow is going to be a sum of what we are saying and not saying now.
