Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. – Proverbs 29:18
Vision is a mental picture of a preferred future state. True greatness is practically impossible without vision as vision is what helps us see how tomorrow can be better than today. Vision can also be termed as foresight, that is, the ability to see ahead and consequently make necessary changes based on what is seen.
A prudent man foresees evil and hides, but the simple pass on and are punished. – Pro 22:3
A prudent man who foresees evil ahead and alters his behavior in the present to avert the crisis ahead is a man of vision. If he can see evil ahead and hide, then he can also see good ahead and properly position himself for it. This is what vision is all about; how the predictions of the future affect the decisions of today.
“What do I See?”
This is a question anyone who desires greatness in any area should ask himself/herself repeatedly. We cannot go beyond what we see. What do you see about your life, about your spouse, your children, your business, your career, your ministry and every other area of your life? How does what you see affect your decisions today? This is so important because vision gives focus and direction to the present. Where there is no vision, there is no order and so nothing worthwhile can be produced.
Someone might be wondering how to get a worthwhile vision for life, family, career or any other vital area of life. God’s word is the principal source of every authentic vision. We can literally pick visions for every area of our lives from the word; for families, for our children, our careers and so on. Visions gotten from God’s word are credible and can stand the test of time. Make a decision to craft visions for every area of your life from God’s word and watch your life take on an entirely new turn.
