Topic: Appointment with the Father
“And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” – Mark1:35 KJV.
There are no rules on the time and place to meet with God, but I have found that it is best for me to set aside time in the morning as a great way to set the pace for the day. Every day is a new day with new challenges and opportunities. I want to start my day plugged into the Power Source for my life. I want to inhale the presence of the Holy Spirit in order to better exhale His love and service all day. I want my will to be aligned with God from the very start. I want to tell the one who is all-worthy how much I love Him at the beginning of the day. I want to be in the front of the line to receive God’s mercies that are new every morning: “The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
“Don’t pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it. A man is powerful on his knees.”
Of course, we are to remember God – to acknowledge and thank and praise Him – throughout the day. David loved to greet God in the morning, but He was tuned into His presence at every moment of the day, including when He lay down to sleep: “I lie awake thinking of You, meditating on You through the night” (Psalm 63:6) NLT.
Where and how you worship God is also up to you. However, it’s something we do continually AND intentionally. Jesus taught that we are to have a private place. I think it’s important that there are time and place that is free from distractions when we bring our hearts before God. No radio, no television, no smartphone— especially smartphones! Make it about just you and God.
Why don’t you begin today by making time for God as your top priority? Take a deep drink from the living water… “this type of well will never run dry”.
PRAYER
Daily as I live and often as I breathe, let my whole life be expressions of your GRACE.
