“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” – Hebrew 11:1 (KJV).
Whenever we find ourselves in situations where we are expecting to receive from God and it appears to have failed, it’s important to always remember that God’s word is unfailing (Jeremiah 1:12ASV), He cannot lie, He does not fail (Hebrew 6:18; Psalms 138:2). Once that is resolved, it is then easier to analyze from that perspective and to discover where the equation might have been incomplete or where we might have missed it, but God always keeps His word!
Usually, when these situations are examined, we find that people are caught up in a lot of ‘believing’, ‘trusting’ and ‘hoping’ which sums up to hope. Faith isn’t hoping, “…faith is the substance of things hoped for….”. Faith isn’t the same as wishing for something, or “building castles in the sky”. Faith is substantiated by EVIDENCE!
In a Law court, in most justice systems, a case should be presented and proven using evidence, circumstantial, physical, or otherwise. The best evidence to always bring to God is His word! That is Faith, belief in God’s integrity. Knowing that He will do what He said He will do.
Hope isn’t wrong, it’s a great place to start but it’s not the finish line. We hope that various things will happen, but faith is then the substance, evidence, that our hope is resting on. So, whatever it is that you are hoping he will do, get a promise in His word. If he has done it for anyone, He can and is willing do it for you (Acts 10:34). All that’s needed is evidence!
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, my hope is in you. My faith is unwavering and stands sure on Your word. Every mountain that stands against me, I command to move now in Jesus name.
