Give attention to reading
“Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine” – 1 Timothy 4:13
The wiser we are, the better we live. Wisdom is the capital ingredient for destiny fulfilment. Those who truly desire to be great commit to relentless search for wisdom.
Wisdom is a function of development; those who commit to personal development turn out wiser than those who leave their lives to chance. Abraham Lincoln once said “I do not think much of a man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday”. It therefore becomes pertinent to commit to growing in wisdom daily.
One cardinal way to growing in wisdom is through books. It is said that a man who does not read is not different from a man who cannot read. Most of the information we require to keep advancing through life are locked up in books we have refused to read. In Daniel 9:2, Daniel let out one of the secrets of his great feats, “I Daniel, understood by books…”
Progress in life is a function of understanding and a studious life cannot be void of understanding. Apostle Paul encouraged Timothy to be committed to a studious life.
“Study to show yourself approved, a workman that does not need to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth” II Timothy 2:15
It is clear from this scripture that studying wholesome materials will preserve us from destiny shame. If we settle with relevant materials as it relates to our field of work, we literally begin to come into the life of our dreams. We escape the plague of ignorance that’s prevalent across Africa by making a commitment to improve the quality of our minds through relentless study and readership.
Daily digest: “Reading makes a full man”
Dear God, I thank you for today. I ask for a fresh desire for knowledge. I do not want to underutilize the great destiny I have in you. Help me understand when I read and give me the grace to act on the knowledge gained so I can become a better person altogether in Jesus name.
